You may not know this, but there are actually two ways to do pop smoke braids men. The first way is by using your fingers, fishing line or clear lace to create the braid “pop” (a.k.a. the chunky part of the braid). The second way is by using a traditional three-strand braid. We’ll cover both of them here, complete with detailed pictures.

For Pop Smoke Braids Men Using Your Fingers:

1) Make a three-strand braid using your fingers, using the index finger to pull up combed sections from each side to be braided with it’s corresponding middle finger.

2) Let the first finger to become the “up” finger, and let the other two finger become the “down” fingers.

3) Pop it up, creating a chunky part of your braid. Repeat all around.

Pop Smoke Braids Using Fishing Line:
1. Braid your hair in three-strand plaits by yourself and hold it tight at both ends to keep it firm.

2. Twist one end of the plait twice and stick it to your head from the back.

3. Wrap the other end of the plait around your braids and pulled it up to overlap the plait in front of you, leaving a gap in between. Repeat all around, leaving a gap at the top where your three-strand braid ends.

4. Wrap the two ends of the three-strand braid around your fingers and tuck them behind the braids to conceal it. Repeat all around until you are satisfied with your braid.

Pop Smoke Braids Using Clear Lace:
1) Braid your hair in three-strand plaits by yourself and hold it tight at both ends to keep it firm.

2) Twist one end of the plait twice and stick it to your head from the back.

3) Wrap the other end of the plait around your braids and pulled it up to overlap the plait in front of you, leaving a gap in between. Repeat all around, leaving a gap at the top where your three-strand braid ends.

4) Stick a piece of lace with adhesive to cover up the gap and keep it firm. Repeat all around until you are satisfied with your braid.

For Pop Smoke Braids Using Traditional Three-Strand Braid:
1. Do a three-strand braid down the length of your hair. End it with a regular overhand knot and tuck them behind the braid to conceal them.
2. Repeat until you are satisfied with your braids (or you run out of hair to braid).
3. Bias fringe by clipping one end of each plait at an angle (this will become the pop part of your braids).
4. Repeat it all over, to create your braids.
5. Twist the braid around your fingers and tuck it behind the braids to conceal it.
6. You’re done!
