I am a Cookie Monster: An Ode to My Love for Cookies
I have a confession to make: I am a cookie monster. No, I don’t have fur or googly eyes, but I do have an insatiable love for cookies. Those soft, chewy, and sweet treats that bring me back to my childhood, when my mom would bake her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Growing up with a single mom who worked long hours, my siblings and I would often have to fend for ourselves in terms of meals. But my mom always made time to bake her chocolate chip cookies. It was a special treat that we looked forward to, and it’s one of the precious memories I have of my childhood.
Now, as an adult, I have a Pinterest board dedicated to cookies, with over 200 recipes that I’ve personally pinned. And let me tell you, cookies are the best dessert ever created. Here’s why:
They’re single-serve, so no need for utensils to divide them.
They’re portable and easy to transport, making them perfect for parties or potlucks.
They freeze well, so you can save them for later and not eat the entire batch in one sitting. (Okay, maybe that’s just me.)
They make excellent gifts.
They can be made into a breakfast option if you reduce the sugar.
They taste amazing if you find the right recipe and figure out your preferred texture (soft? cakey? crisp? chewy?)
So, in honor of my love for cookies, I’d like to share some of my favorite recipes with you:
